What Is Reiki and How Does It Work?

You may have heard about Reiki or be curious as to what a typical Reiki session involves so here is a brief introduction to the treatment and its benefits.

Reiki involves using the energy that exists all around us and focusing it on healing the body of a variety of ailments. It can be used to ease the symptoms of illness or simply as a relaxation therapy. The treatment is non-invasive, you will be fully clothed during your session and sitting comfortably in a chair.

During the treatment you will experience light non-invasive touch from a trained Reiki practitioner. The main areas of focus are the head and front and back of the torso although particular areas of focus can include other parts of the body where there are injuries. No pressure will be applied during the treatment making it suitable for people of all ages.

How Will I Benefit From Reiki?

How you are likely to feel both during and after your Reiki treatment really depends on how you respond as an individual. Some people find that it relaxes them to the point of feeling sleepy while others report that their headaches disappear or they feel the heat generated by the practitioner’s hands and the soothing effect this has on pain and soreness.
